About
Professional Background
Dr. Kassem M. Danach is Chairperson of the Information Technology and Management Systems Department at Al Maaref University (2023–present). He holds a PhD in Computer and Telecommunication Engineering from École Centrale de Lille (2016), completed postdoctoral research in Business Analytics at Université d’Artois (2020–2021), and previously served as Head of the Computer Science Department and Head of the Management Information Systems Department at the Islamic University of Lebanon.
His research focuses on hyperheuristics, combinatorial optimization, logistics and supply-chain network design, machine learning, and explainable AI. Doctoral work proposed hyperheuristic frameworks for logistic problems including the workover rig scheduling problem and the hub location routing problem. Postdoctoral research contributed to the SOCORRO system for industrial corrosion-risk monitoring.
He is inventor of three patents issued by Lebanon’s Intellectual Property Protection Office: the Smart Infant Cry Analyzer (SICA), the Smart Autism Predictor Machine (D-SAP), and the Smart Parkinson Predictor Machine (D-SPP). He has served as Treasurer of the IEEE Computer Society Chapter Lebanon, Delegate of the Order of Engineers – Beirut, and Vice President for Publication of the Lebanese Association for Information Systems. He teaches across Al Maaref University, the Lebanese University, University of Balamand, and other institutions, and trains professionals in data science, programming, AI, and analytics.
